ABSTRACT

Breast cancer in Indonesia is the cancer with the most cases as well as the second leading cause of cancer death in women. Breast cancer continues to increase and patients at reproductive age have a higher potential for malignancy. This study is a descriptive correlational study conducted on women of childbearing age wih accidental sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using primary data using Indonesian version of the breast cancer awareness scale (BCAS-I) questionnaire. Data analysis used was univariate and bivariate data analysis. The purpose of this study was to determine correlation between awareness and breast cancer screening practices. The results showed that women of childbearing age had a moderate level of breast cancer awareness (53.2%) and good breast cancer screening practices (58.6%). The findings showed a moderate and significant positive correlation between breast cancer awareness and breast cancer screening practices (p-value 0.001). The researcher suggested that health workers can also utilize social media and display health promotion tools related to breast cancer at health puskesmas to increase women of childbearing age. To improve breast cancer screening practices, a routine program that invites women of childbearing age in clinical breast examination can be held.

Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan data primer menggunakan kuesioner Indonesian version of the breast cancer awareness scale (BCAS-I).
