ABSTRACT
Early detection of heart attack risk is essential to prevent high morbidity and mortality rates. An Android-based Heart Screening Application is proposed to help patients understand and manage their risk, reducing heart attack incidents through accessible and user-friendly technology. This study aims to develop and evaluate a heart disease screening application that allows users to independently assess their heart disease risk. The application was developed using the Waterfall methodology, including analysis, design, implementation, and testing. Testing utilized a mixed-methods embedded approach, with quantitative data gathered from surveys of 75 respondents to evaluate usability, quality, and user satisfaction, and qualitative data collected through interviews to explore user experiences and perceptions. A heart screening application was created featuring a heart disease risk test and recommendations based on test results. Quantitative findings showed 98% of respondents were satisfied with the app’s design and system, 97% found it helpful for heart disease risk detection, and 91% reported it encouraged healthier lifestyle changes. However, 86% expressed concerns regarding personal data security. Qualitative data supported these results, with respondents noting ease of use and access flexibility as major advantages, though concerns about potential data breaches highlight an area needing improvement. The application successfully raised public awareness and capability in detecting and monitoring heart disease risk, though enhanced data security is needed to improve user trust in the future.
