ABSTRACT

Caregivers are individuals who play a crucial role in caring for children with cancer, facing emotional burdens such as anxiety over the potential loss of their child. This study aims to describe the level of anticipatory grief among caregivers of children with cancer. This research uses a descriptive quantitative method. The sample consists of 47caregivers selected using the accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using the Marwit-Meuser CaregiverGrief Inventory Short Form (MM-CGI SF), which contains 18 validated items with a Cronbach's alpha reliability score of 0.90. The results showed that the majority of caregivers had a normal level of anticipatory grief (76.6%), while 14.9% had a high level and 8.5% had a low level. In the dimension of personal sacrifice burden, 21.3% of caregivers were at a high level. The heartfelt sadness and longing dimension showed 14.9% at a high level, while the worry and felt isolation dimension indicated 19.1% at a high level. This study concludes that most caregivers experience anticipatory grief at a normal level, although a small portion exhibit high levels, particularly in the dimensions of personal sacrifice burden and feelings of isolation. Therefore, greater attention and psychosocial interventions are needed to help caregivers manage anticipatory grief effectively.

Dimensi heartfelt sadness and longing menunjukkan 14,9% pada tingkat tinggi, sedangkan dimensi worry and felt isolation menunjukkan 19,1% pada tingkat tinggi.
