Abstract
The correlation between fatigue domains and quality of life among patients with hypertension
in Indonesia
Background: Hypertension is one of the main cardiovascular problems worldwide. In Indonesia, hypertension is one of the most common diseases. Fatigue is common and often occurs in hypertensive patients and may contribute to poor quality of life among this population.
Purpose: To identify the relationship between fatigue and quality of life among patients with hypertension.
Method: This study used descriptive correlational design with cross-sectional approach using 152 convenience samples in a public hospital of Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The instruments used were the Multidimensional Assessment of Fatigue (MAF) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF). Descriptive statistics and bivariate analysis were utilized to test relationships between variables.
Results: The physical component of QOL had significant correlation with Global Fatigue Index/GFI (r = -0,17, p < 0.05), severity (r = -0,17, p < 0.05) and distress domain (r = -0,21, p < 0, 01). The psychological component of QOL was associated with GFI (r = -0,26, p < 0.01), severity domain (r = -0,25, p < 0.01), distress (r = -0,28, p < 0.01), and degree of inteference in ADL (r = -0,24, p < 0.01). While the environment component of QOL was correlated with degree of inteference in ADL (r = -0,17, p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Participants with more severe fatigue had also poorer QOL in all of its components.

Kuesioner yang digunakan yaitu Multidimensional Assessment of Fatigue (MAF) dan World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF).
