TINJAUAN PUSTAKA: DIAGNOSIS DAN TATALAKSANA DEMENSIA ALZHEIMER

Abstrak: Tinjauan Pustaka: Dagnosis dan Tatalaksana Demensia Alzheimer. Demensia merupakan suatu penyakit gangguan otak kronis yang terjadi secara progresif dan menyebabkan kehilangan kemampuan intelektual. Alzheimer merupakan salah satu bentuk paling umum dari demensia. Demensia Alzheimer tergolong penyakit degeneratif, artinya akan semakin memburuk seiring berjalannya waktu. Pendiagnosaan Demensia Alzheimer ditujukan pada orang dengan kecurigaan gangguan kognitif. Pada orang yang diduga kognitifnya terganggu, diagnosis harus dilakukan berdasarkan kriteria DSM-IV untuk demensia. Salah satu gangguan tidur yang paling umum terjadi pada penderita Demensia Alzheimer adalah insomnia sekaligus sebagai salah satu gejala diagnosis Demensia Alzheimer pada individu. Pada pasien alzheimer, gangguan tidur ini disebabkan karena adanya gangguan regulasi yang ekstrim pada irama sirkadian tidur yang terjadi secara acak. Untuk pencegahannya, diperlukan pencegahan primer (memodifikasi faktor risiko), sekunder (diagnosis) dan tersier (terapi) untuk memperlambat penurunan fungsi kognitif, kesalahan diagnosis dan penanganan yang tidak sesuai.
