ABSTRACT
Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease with increased blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia). Uncontrolled diabetes causes serious microvascular and macrovascular complications. Self-care behavior in diabetes treatment can maintain blood glucose levels, prevent complications, and increase patient life expectancy. Self-efficacy can be a strategy for stimulating self-care behavior in diabetes patients. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-efficacy and self-care behavior in diabetes patients in Pulonas Village, Babussalam District, Southeast Aceh Regency. This research is a type of descriptive correlation research using a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study was all diabetes sufferers in Pulonas Village totaling 74 respondents using a sampling technique, namely total sampling that met the inclusion criteria. The results of data analysis using the chi-square test (x2) showed that there was a significant relationship between self-efficacy and self-care behavior in diabetes patients (p-value = 0.017). The conclusion from the results of this study is that high self-efficacy can lead to better self-care practices for diabetes patients. So it is recommended that health workers develop health education programs to increase patient self-efficacy in managing diabetes
