ABSTRACT
Communication is a crucial aspect of healthcare delivery, particularly in nursing. In nursing, communication between nurses and patients to support the healing process is known as therapeutic communication. Through effective therapeutic communication, nurses can help patients adapt to their condition, alleviate physical and psychological problems, and explain the treatment process, thus accelerating the healing process. However, the therapeutic communication skills of nurses in providing care are often not optimal, which affects the success of the treatment. One way to improve these skills is through the use of video-based learning. As a medium that integrates audio and visual elements, video-based learning provides explanations and steps for implementing therapeutic communication, making it easier to understand and remember. This study aims to evaluate the effect of video-based learning on improving therapeutic communication skills in nurses. It employs a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group. The study population consisted of nurses at RSU X Pontianak, with samples selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using the Paired t-test. Based on the analysis, the p-value was 0.000, indicating that video-based learning has a significant impact on therapeutic communication skills. This study demonstrates that video-based learning on therapeutic communication can effectively enhance the therapeutic communication skills of nurses.
