Hubungan Depresi dengan Fatigue pada Pasien Kanker yang Menjalani Radioterapi

ABSTRACT
Approximately 10.9 million people are diagnosed with cancer globally each year, with many requiring radiotherapy as part of their treatment. A significant concern is that nearly 80% of cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy experience fatigue, which can interfere with daily activities and adversely affect their long-term quality of life. This study aims to determine the relationship between depression and fatigue in cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. A correlational analytic research design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The population included all cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy at Andalas University Hospital in 2024, and a sample of 130 patients was selected using the Purposive Sampling method. The research utilized two primary instruments: the Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI) and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS). Two enumerators were involved in the data collection process, ensuring consistency in perceptions. The collected data were processed using SPSS, and the analysis was conducted using the Kruskal Wallis test. The results indicated a significant relationship between depression and fatigue (p < 0.05). Most patients reported moderate fatigue, which was exacerbated by moderate levels of depression. This suggests that fatigue is influenced by the interplay between the physical effects of radiotherapy and the psychological conditions that significantly affect patients' quality of life.

ABSTRAK
Sekitar 10,9 juta orang seluruh dunia didiagnosis menderita kanker setiap tahunnya, sebagian di antaranya membutuhkan radioterapi sebagai bagian dari pengobatan. Namun, hampir semua pasien kanker (80%) yang menjalani radioterapi mengalami fatigue, yang dapat menggangu aktivitas sehari-hari memengaruhi kualitas hidup pasien dalam waktu yang panjang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan depresi dengan fatigue pada pasien kanker yang menjalani radioterapi. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan analitik korelatif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini mencakup semua pasien kanker yang menjalani radioterapi di Rumah Sakit Universitas Andalas Tahun 2024. Sampel terdiri dari 130 pasien kanker yang menjalani radioterapi dan dipilih melalui Purposive Sampling method. Alat penggumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu kuesioner Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI) dan Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS). Peneliti melibatkan dua enumerator yang telah dilakukan persamaan persepsi dalam pengumpulan data. Data yang terkumpul diolah menggunakan SPSS, dan di analisis menggunakan uji Kruskal Wallis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara depresi dengan fatigue (p < 0,05). Sebagian besar pasien melaporkan fatigue sedang yang diperburuk oleh depresi sedang, yang menunjukankan bahwa fatigue dipengaruhi oleh interaksi antara efek fisik radioterapi dan kondisi psikologis yang memengaruhi kualitas hidup.
