Skrining Hipertensi dan Pemeriksaan Elektrokardiogram (EKG) untuk meningkatkan derajat kesehatan Pasien Hipertensi di Jemaat GPI Elim Abepura Tahun 2025
Sari
ABSTRACT
X Hypertension remains a silent threat in the adult and elderly community, often going undetected until it causes more serious heart dysfunction. This community service activity aims to conduct hypertension screening and electrocardiogram (ECG) examinations in the GPI Elim Abepura congregation to identify cardiovascular risks early and improve community heart health literacy. The activity methods included health education, blood pressure screening using calibrated digital blood pressure monitors, standard ECG examinations, individual consultations, and recording demographic and medical history data. Data were analyzed descriptively through frequency distributions, percentages, and cross-tabulations between hypertension history, blood pressure category, and ECG results. The results showed that 52.5% of participants had hypertension (≥140/90 mmHg), with the proportion aged ≥50 years reaching 85%, and participants with a history of hypertension showing uncontrolled blood pressure up to 40%. ECG examinations showed 82.5% normal results and 17.5% abnormal, indicating the potential impact of chronic hypertension on heart function. This activity provided direct benefits in the form of early detection of cardiovascular risk, increased participant understanding of hypertension management, and practical contributions to building a church-based integrated screening service model. As a follow-up, it recommended the implementation of regular blood pressure monitoring, the formation of church health cadres, and further research on the relationship between blood pressure control, physical activity, and changes in ECG results in high-risk populations.
