ABSTRACT

Cervical cancer is a serious health problem in the community because it can lead to decreased quality of life and even death. The goal of this activity is to increase public awareness and understanding, as well as to promote Pap smears as an early detection method for cervical cancer. The target group was women of childbearing age visiting the clinic at Abepura Regional General Hospital in Jayapura, Papua. The activity used a lecture, discussion, and question-and-answer approach. The results showed an increase in knowledge, with an initial pre-test score of 48.1 rising to 89.2 at the end of the post-test. Pap smears found 81.8% of women were categorized as normal, 13.6% had mild inflammation, and the remaining 4.6% had abnormal cells. The conclusion of this activity is that participants' knowledge about cervical cancer and its prevention has increased. This activity can encourage Pap smears for more women of childbearing age to conduct early detection of cervical cancer and seek treatment if abnormal cervical cells are found.
