Gambaran Penerapan Perawatan Metode Kanguru (PMK) di Ruang Nicu RSUD Dr. Soedono Madiun

ABSTRACT

 

Low birth weight (LBW) infants are at higher risk of morbidity and mortality, making appropriate neonatal care essential to support their survival and growth. Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is a simple and evidence-based intervention that emphasizes skin-to-skin contact between the infant and the caregiver to promote physiological stability and bonding. This study aimed to describe the implementation of Kangaroo Mother Care for low birth weight infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of RSUD dr. Soedono Madiun. A non-experimental descriptive study design was employed. The study population included all mothers of low birth weight infants treated in the NICU, and total sampling was applied. Data were obtained from medical records, NICU unit reports, and KMC implementation documentation forms. The observed variables consisted of KMC implementation, individuals involved in providing KMC, types of KMC applied, and classification of low birth weight infants. Data analysis was conducted using univariate analysis to present frequency distributions. The results provide an overview of how Kangaroo Mother Care is applied in the NICU setting and highlight its role in supporting neonatal care practices. In conclusion, Kangaroo Mother Care represents an important component of comprehensive care for low birth weight infants and should be consistently implemented to enhance the quality of neonatal services.

ABSTRAK

 

Bayi Berat Lahir Rendah (BBLR) masih menjadi salah satu masalah utama dalam pelayanan neonatal karena berkaitan dengan tingginya angka kesakitan dan kematian bayi. Bayi dengan kondisi ini membutuhkan perawatan khusus untuk mendukung kestabilan fisiologis dan proses tumbuh kembangnya. Salah satu intervensi yang direkomendasikan adalah Perawatan Metode Kanguru (PMK), yaitu perawatan dengan kontak kulit ke kulit antara bayi dan ibu atau anggota keluarga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan penerapan Perawatan Metode Kanguru (PMK) pada bayi BBLR di ruang Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) RSUD dr. Soedono Madiun. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain non-eksperimental dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Populasi penelitian meliputi seluruh ibu yang memiliki bayi BBLR yang dirawat di ruang NICU, dengan teknik pengambilan sampel total sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui form dokumentasi pelaksanaan PMK, rekam medis, serta laporan ruang NICU. Variabel yang diteliti meliputi pelaksanaan PMK, pihak yang terlibat dalam PMK, jenis PMK yang digunakan, serta klasifikasi BBLR. Analisis data dilakukan secara univariat untuk menggambarkan distribusi frekuensi setiap variabel. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan gambaran mengenai penerapan PMK pada bayi BBLR dan diharapkan dapat menjadi bahan evaluasi bagi tenaga kesehatan serta pihak rumah sakit dalam meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan perawatan neonatal.
