ABSTRACT

 

Sexual violence is a serious issue in higher education settings, particularly among first-year students who are in a transitional and adjustment phase. Knowledge regarding the prevention of sexual violence is an important aspect in reducing incidents of sexual violence within the university environment. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between gender and the level of knowledge among first-year students of the Faculty of Nursing regarding the prevention of sexual violence. This research employed a correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 130 first-year students selected using the Slovin formula. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods, with the Chi-Square test applied for statistical analysis. The results showed that the majority of students were female (86.2%). More than half of the respondents demonstrated a good level of knowledge regarding the prevention of sexual violence (56.2%). The bivariate analysis indicated that there was no statistically significant relationship between gender and the level of knowledge about sexual violence prevention (p = 0.052). This finding suggests that other factors may influence knowledge levels. Nevertheless, efforts to enhance knowledge regarding sexual violence prevention need to be continuously strengthened.

ABSTRAK

 

Kekerasan seksual merupakan permasalahan serius di lingkungan perguruan tinggi, khususnya bagi mahasiswa baru yang berada pada fase transisi dan adaptasi. Pengetahuan tentang pencegahan kekerasan seksual menjadi aspek penting untuk mencegah kejadian kekerasan seksual di lingkungan perguruan tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara jenis kelamin dengan tingkat pengetahuan mahasiswa baru Fakultas Keperawatan mengenai pencegahan kekerasan seksual. Desain penelitian menggunakan desain analitik korelasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner yang disebarkan secara daring kepada 130 mahasiswa baru yang dipilih menggunakan rumus Slovin. Analisis data dilakukan secara univariat dan bivariat menggunakan uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa berjenis kelamin Perempuan (86,2%). Mayoritas mahasiswa menunjukkan tingkat pengetahuan yang baik mengenai pencegahan kekerasan seksual (56,2%). Hasil uji bivariat  menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara jenis kelamin dengan tingkat pengetahuan tentang pencegahan kekerasan seksual (p = 0,052). Hal ini dimungkinkan karena ada faktor lain yang mempengaruhi pengetahuan tersebut. Walaupun demikian, Upaya peningkatan pengetahuan tentang pencegahan kekerasan seksual perlu terus diperkuat.
