ABSTRACT

Diabetes mellitus is a lifelong condition which is one of the leading causes of death in the world. Approximately 15% of patients with diabetes mellitus will suffer from diabetic foot ulcers. The incidence of lower extremity amputation associated with diabetic foot ulcers was significantly inversely correlated with the provision of foot care services. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between foot care and the occurrence of foot ulcers in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus based on literature studies in the last 5 years. Literature review is carried out based on issues, methodologies, similarities and further research proposals. Of the 11 articles, it shows that one researcher conducted a design using case control, one researcher used the cohort study method, while three researchers used a quasi experiment (pre-post test with control design), one researcher used a questionnaire design and five researchers used a cross sectional study ( documentation studies). The population is all patients with diabetes mellitus. Based on 11 studies, it was found that there was a significant relationship between foot care and the occurrence of foot ulcers in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. people with type 2 DM. Given the high prevalence of UKD in patients with type 2 diabetes, it is recommended that they perform routine foot care.
