ABSTRACT

Medical education requires physical and mental resilience because of the long journey of the study itself. Enduring various pressures can lead to serious mental health disorders such as stress, anxiety, and depression. There is currently no data on the proportion of mental health disorders in Universitas Tarumanagara’s medical faculty. This study was conducted to obtain data on the proportion of mental health disorders among Universitas Tarumanagara’s medical students. The research design was a cross-sectional descriptive. The SQR-20, PHQ-9, PSS-10, and DASS-21 questionnaires were used to assess mental health disorders, stress, anxiety, and depression. The study found that 49.9% of respondents had mental health disorders (SQR-20 questionnaire), 12.8% of respondents reported moderate to severe depression (PHQ-9 questionnaire), and 69.4% of respondents were under moderate stress (PSS-10 questionnaire). According to the DASS-21 questionnaire results, 26.8% of respondents had moderate-to-severe stress, 58.9% had moderate-to-severe anxiety, and 37.6% had moderate-to-severe depression. It can be concluded that the high proportion of mental health disorders such as stress, anxiety, and depression among Universitas Tarumanagara’s medical faculty students requires special attention. This must be addressed immediately, and students must seek assistance to ensure that they won’t experience more severe conditions in the future.
