Aktivitas Antimikroba Ekstrak Daun Tin (Fieus carica L.) terhadap Streptococcus mutans dan Porphyromonas gingivalis

ABSTRACT
This study aimed to determine the antimicrobial activity of ethanol extract of fig leaves (Ficus carica L.) against Streptococcus mutans and Porphyromonas gingivalis, the main bacteria causing oral infections. The study was conducted experimentally using the agar diffusion method with variations of dried (DK) and fresh (DS) fig leaf extracts at concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The observed parameter was the diameter of the bacterial inhibition zone formed around the paper disc. The results showed that increasing extract concentration correlated with greater antibacterial activity. The dried leaf extract exhibited stronger inhibition against S. mutans, with the largest inhibition zone of 13,2 mm at 100% concentration, while inhibition against P. gingivalis reached 12,5 mm at the same level. The fresh leaf extract also showed moderate activity, with an inhibition zone of 10,6 mm against S. mutans at 100% concentration. These findings indicate that ethanol extract of fig leaves has potential as a natural antimicrobial agent against oral pathogens, particularly S. mutans, with increasing effectiveness at higher concentrations.

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antimikroba ekstrak etanol daun tin (Ficus carica L.) terhadap Streptococcus mutans dan Porphyromonas gingivalis sebagai penyebab utama infeksi mulut. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental menggunakan metode difusi agar dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak daun tin kering dan daun tin segar yaitu 25%, 50%, 75%, dan 100%. Parameter yang diamati ialah diameter zona hambat pertumbuhan bakteri yang terbentuk di sekitar kertas cakram. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan konsentrasi ekstrak sebanding dengan peningkatan aktivitas antibakteri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun kering memiliki aktivitas lebih kuat terhadap S. mutans dengan zona hambat terbesar 13,2 mm pada konsentrasi 100%, sedangkan terhadap P. gingivalis sebesar 12,5 mm pada konsentrasi yang sama. Ekstrak daun segar juga menunjukkan aktivitas sedang dengan zona hambat 10,6 mm terhadap S. mutans pada konsentrasi 100%. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun tin memiliki potensi menjadi agen antimikroba alami terhadap bakteri penyebab infeksi mulut, terutama S. mutans, dan efektivitasnya meningkat dengan konsentrasi ekstrak yang lebih tinggi.
