Korelasi Indeks Massa Tubuh dengan Parameter Fisiologis Kulit pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tarumanagara

ABSTRACT

 

Skin health disorders are common among young adults and can be influenced by various factors, including body mass index (BMI). Obesity is known to be associated with chronic inflammation, adipokine dysfunction, and physiological alterations of the skin; however, empirical evidence among Indonesian university students remains limited. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between BMI and skin health parameters among medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Tarumanagara. This cross-sectional study was conducted from September to November 2025. A total of 118 respondents were selected using a total sampling technique. Height was measured using a GEA stadiometer, body weight using the Karada Omron HBF-375 scale, and skin parameters were assessed using the Smart Skin Analyzer Bitmoji. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods, with Spearman correlation applied and a significance level set at p<0,05. Most skin parameters showed no significant relationship with BMI, including sebum level, pores, spots, wrinkles, acne, comedones, pigmentation, skin sensitivity, and UV-induced acne (p>0.05). One parameter demonstrated a significant correlation: collagen level (r=0.242; p=0.008), indicating that higher BMI was associated with higher collagen levels. Conclusion: BMI was not significantly correlated with most skin health parameters; however, it showed a significant positive association with collagen levels. These findings highlight the need for further research to explore metabolic mechanisms influencing collagen integrity in young adult populations.

ABSTRAK

 

Gangguan kesehatan kulit merupakan masalah yang umum terjadi pada dewasa muda dan dapat dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, termasuk indeks massa tubuh (IMT). Obesitas diketahui berhubungan dengan inflamasi kronis, disfungsi adipokin, dan perubahan fisiologis kulit, namun bukti empiris pada populasi mahasiswa Indonesia masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara IMT dengan parameter kesehatan kulit pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tarumanagara. Penelitian menggunakan desain potong lintang dan dilakukan pada September–November 2025. Sebanyak 118 responden dipilih dengan teknik total sampling. Pengukuran tinggi badan menggunakan stadiometer GEA, berat badan menggunakan timbangan Karada Omron HBF-375, sedangkan parameter kulit diukur menggunakan Smart Skin Analyzer Bitmoji. Analisis dilakukan secara univariat dan bivariat menggunakan korelasi Spearman dengan batas kemaknaan p<0,05. Sebagian besar parameter kulit tidak menunjukkan hubungan bermakna dengan IMT, termasuk kadar sebum, pori, flek, keriput, jerawat, komedo, pigmentasi, sensitivitas, dan jerawat UV (p>0,05). Satu parameter menunjukkan korelasi signifikan, yaitu kadar kolagen (r=0,242; p=0,008), menandakan IMT yang lebih tinggi berhubungan dengan peningkatan kadar kolagen. IMT tidak berkorelasi signifikan dengan sebagian besar parameter kesehatan kulit, namun memiliki hubungan positif bermakna dengan kadar kolagen. Temuan ini menunjukkan perlunya penelitian lanjutan terhadap mekanisme metabolik yang memengaruhi integritas kolagen pada populasi dewasa muda.
