ABSTRACT

Diabetes is the leading cause of serious health complications and one of the top ten causes of death worldwide. The prevalence and incidence of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus are rapidly increasing around the world. The burden of diabetes complications will increase in line with the disease's prevalence. Effective prevention strategies, such as early detection and health education for individuals and communities, are required to reduce this burden. This activity aims to raise awareness of the significance of early detection and management of diabetes Mellitus treatment. This activity was carried out on March 23, 2023, and March 30, 2023. The method was lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and return demonstrations. PowerPoint and newsprint teaching aids are used as learning media. The results obtained from this activity were that the knowledge of participants in the first activity (23 March 2023) increased with an average score of 60 and the knowledge of participants in the second activity (30 March 2023) increased with an average score of 53.33. Based on the findings, we can conclude that health education plays a role in increasing an individual's knowledge. Diabetes Mellitus can reduce a person's quality of life, therefore the recommendation from this activity is that early detection and ongoing health education are required for individuals or communities.
