Sari

ABSTRACT
Emergency incidents can occur anywhere, including in the school environment, which is a high-risk place for students to experience injury or medical emergencies. Data shows that 20% of injuries to children occur during school hours, with common types of injuries including abrasions, sprains, fractures, to conditions such as fainting, choking, and nosebleeds. So that it requires fast and appropriate initial assistance to victims can save lives and prevent further complications. The unpreparedness of the school environment, including students, and teachers in handling this situation, can worsen the child's condition before receiving further medical assistance. Currently, many students and teachers in other schools do not have basic knowledge and skills in handling emergencies. Thus, promotive and preventive efforts such as education and training are very important. The purpose of this activity is to improve the understanding and skills of participants in handling initial emergencies. The method of this activity is in the form of counseling, training and simulation. To assist and remind schools, emergency handling guide modules are provided for lay people. The pre-test results showed that 90% of students did not understand the initial handling of emergencies, after counseling and training, the post-test results showed an increase in students' understanding of how to handle initial emergency incidents by 65.0%. These results indicate that simulation-based training is effective in increasing the knowledge and understanding of teachers, students, and school employees on how to provide first aid such as fainting, choking, nosebleeds, broken bones, and sprains in the MAN 1 Pesisir Selatan school environment.
