ABSTRACT

Nutritional issues in toddlers are a major focus of intervention in Indonesia. Provision of appropriate complementary foods (MP-ASI) determines the nutritional status of toddlers. Cadres are the right target to assist families in this intervention, including in Ujan Mas Village, Muara Enim Regency. This activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of Posyandu (Integrated Service Post) cadres in the practice of providing complementary foods (MP-ASI) as an effort to prevent stunting and strengthen the "Chating Mesra" (Friendly Chat) movement in Ujanmas Baru Village. Counseling, interactive discussions, pre- and post-tests, and practical training in making MP-ASI based on local ingredients were used to conduct community service. A total of 15 Posyandu cadres participated in the study, and outcomes were evaluated by comparing pre- and post-test results. Next, the cadres conducted their own independent practice. Post-test results showed a significant increase in staff knowledge; the majority of staff were able to answer 12–15 questions correctly, and five staff (33.3%) achieved a perfect score. Furthermore, 90 percent of staff members demonstrated the ability to practice preparing complementary feeding (MP-ASI) according to nutritional standards, and 90 percent understood the counseling materials. Counseling, training, and mentoring have been shown to help Posyandu (Integrated Service Post) cadres improve their knowledge and skills in MP-ASI practices. With the assistance of this program, the role of cadres is strengthened to support stunting prevention at the community level through nutrition education.
