Program Peningkatan Pengetahuan Hubungan Periodontitis dengan Kesehatan Tubuh melalui Media Buku Saku

ABSTRAK
Penyakit periodontal adalah infeksi kronis pada jaringan penyangga gigi, seperti gusi dan tulang. Jika tidak ditangani, penyakit ini dapat menyebabkan gigi goyang hingga tanggal. Penyakit periodontal tidak hanya berdampak pada rongga mulut, tetapi juga memengaruhi kesehatan tubuh secara keseluruhan. Bakteri dan infeksi pada jaringan periodontal dapat masuk ke aliran darah dan memicu peradangan sistemik, sehingga berpotensi meningkatkan risiko diabetes, penyakit jantung, dan kehilangan gigi prematur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan guru SMP mengenai penyakit periodontal dan dampaknya terhadap kesehatan tubuh. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan interaktif, distribusi buku saku, serta sesi diskusi dan tanya jawab. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur peningkatan pengetahuan. Setelah dilakukan intervensi edukasi melalui metode ceramah dan penggunaan buku saku, terjadi peningkatan rerata antara pre-test dan post-test sebesar 69,61%. Analisis statistik menggunakan paired t-test menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan (p < 0,001). Intervensi edukasi melalui pemaparan materi yang didukung dengan penggunaan media buku saku terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan guru SMP mengenai hubungan timbal balik antara periodontitis dan kesehatan tubuh.

ABSTRACT
Periodontal disease is a chronic infection of the tissues supporting the teeth, such as gums and bone. If left untreated, this disease can cause teeth to become loose and eventually fall out. Periodontal disease not only affects the mouth but also impacts overall body health. Bacteria and infections in periodontal tissues can enter the bloodstream and trigger systemic inflammation, potentially increasing the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and premature tooth loss. To increase junior high school teachers' knowledge of periodontal disease and its impact on overall body health. The research methods used were interactive education, distribution of pocket books, and question-and-answer discussion sessions. Evaluation is conducted thru pre-tests and post-tests to measure knowledge improvement. After the educational intervention using lectures and a pocketbook, there was an average increase of 69.61% between the pre-test and post-test scores. Statistical analysis using a paired t-test showed a significant difference among respondents (p = 0.000). Educational intervention through material presentation supported by the use of a pocketbook proved effective in increasing junior high school teachers’ knowledge regarding the bidirectional relationship between periodontitis and overall systemic health
