Edukasi Kesehatan untuk Optimalisasi Peran Keluarga dalam Kepatuhan Pengobatan Tuberkulosis Paru
Sari

ABSTRACT
Treatment adherence is a key determinant of successful tuberculosis (TB) therapy; however, the role of family members in supporting patients has not been optimally strengthened through structured health education. This community service activity aimed to improve family knowledge regarding tuberculosis, treatment adherence, and transmission prevention to optimize family support for newly diagnosed pulmonary TB patients. The program was conducted at the Pulmonary Outpatient Clinic of RSUD Raden Mattaher Jambi and involved 16 family members of newly diagnosed pulmonary TB patients. Health education was delivered through interactive lectures, discussions, and educational leaflets. Knowledge was evaluated using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The program involved 16 participants, consisting of 7 males (43.8%) and 9 females (56.2%). Participants with high knowledge increased from 1 (6.25%) to 15 (93.75%), while those with low knowledge decreased from 11 (68.75%) to none. The mean score increased from 4.9 to 9.1. Health education strengthened family preparedness to support treatment adherence and may contribute to improved treatment outcomes among pulmonary TB patients.
