Flashcard sebagai Media Edukasi Efek Samping Obat Anti-Tuberculosis pada Pasien dan Pendamping di Puskesmas Palaran

ABSTRAK

 

Tuberkulosis (TB) masih menjadi masalah kesehatan global dengan beban kejadian dan kematian yang tinggi, di mana keberhasilan terapi Obat Anti-Tuberkulosis (OAT) sangat ditentukan oleh kepatuhan pasien selama minimal enam bulan. Munculnya efek samping OAT yang tidak dikenali dan ditangani secara tepat oleh pasien maupun Pendamping Minum Obat (PMO) sering menjadi penyebab utama putus obat. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan pasien TB dan PMO mengenai efek samping OAT melalui media edukasi flashcard yang dilengkapi QR-Code, dengan pendekatan Theory of Planned Behavior dan Social Support Theory. Metode kegiatan ini menggunakan pendekatan edukasi partisipatif dengan desain pre-test dan post-test pada 32 responden (pasien TB dan PMO) di Puskesmas Palaran. Kegiatan dimulai dengan penyampaian materi menggunakan flashcard bergambar serta video edukasi yang dapat diakses mandiri melalui pemindaian QR-Code. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan setelah di edukasi tentang efek samping obat anti-tuberculosis. Hasil statistik dengan Uji Wilcoxon Signed Ranks menunjukkan perbedaan yang bermakna secara statistik (p < 0,001). Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa edukasi menggunakan flashcard dengan QR-Code efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan pasien dan PMO tentang efek samping OAT, sehingga berpotensi menjadi landasan penting dalam mendukung kepatuhan pengobatan dan pencegahan putus obat. Namun penelitian ini belum secara langsung mengukur outcome kepatuhan pengobatan pasien Tuberculosis di Puskesmas Palaran Kota Samarinda.

ABSTRACT

 

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global health problem with a high burden of morbidity and mortality, and the success of Anti-Tuberculosis Drug (ATD) therapy largely depends on patient adherence for at least six months. Unrecognized and poorly managed ATD side effects among patients and their treatment supporters (PMO) are a leading cause of treatment discontinuation. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge of TB patients and PMO regarding ATD side effects through an educational flashcard equipped with a QR-Code, developed based on the Theory of Planned Behavior and Social Support Theory. A participatory educational approach with a pre-test and post-test design was applied to 32 respondents (TB patients and PMO) at Palaran Health Center, involving the delivery of illustrated flashcards and self-accessible educational videos through QR-Code scanning. The results of the study showed an increase in knowledge following education on the side effects of anti-tuberculosis drugs. Statistical results from The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test revealed a statistically significant difference (sig 0.001<0.05). These findings indicate that flashcard-based education integrated with QR-Code is effective in improving the knowledge of patients and PMO regarding ATD side effects, and may serve as an important foundation for supporting treatment adherence and preventing treatment dropout. However, this study did not directly measure treatment adherence outcomes among tuberculosis patients at the Palaran Health Center in Samarinda City.
