ABSTRACT

Childbirth is a tense and gripping process of giving birth to a baby, causing anxiety and fear in pregnant women. Pregnant women who experience fear in facing childbirth are at high risk of having mental health problems in pregnant women and even complications in pregnancy and childbirth. This study aims to identify the relationship between Spiritual Quotient (SQ) and fear in facing childbirth. This research was conducted by applying the cross sectional research method with non-probability sampling with purposive sampling. Respondents in this study were pregnant women at one of the District Public Health Centers in the Central Jakarta area with a total of 110 respondents. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between Spiritual Quotient (SQ) and fear of childbirth with a p value of 0.001 (OR=3.918 95% CI 1.773-8.657). A spiritual approach can help pregnant women overcome depression, anxiety, and fear in facing childbirth and can be used as a complementary, effective, and non-invasive strategy for managing psychological disorders of pregnant women so that mothers avoid excessive fear in facing childbirth.
