ABSTRACT

Cancer is a disease that increases every year, statistics show that women experience breast cancer the most. This research aims to find out what is experienced by patients undergoing cancer treatment, whether chemotherapy or radiation. This research is qualitative research using a phenomenological study method with 4 participants and 2 participants triangulation. Data analysis was carried out using the colaizi method. The results of this study found 3 major themes, namely the patient's experience in dealing with symptoms and the efforts made to treat the symptoms they felt, the patient's experience when undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the experience of patients and families in dealing with the chemo and radiotherapy process. Chemotherapy and radiation have side effects both physically and psychologically so that they can reduce the patient's quality of life so that patients who will face cancer treatment, both chemotherapy and radiation, must receive good assistance, namely by providing information and psychological assistance.

ABSTRAK

Kanker adalah penyakit yang meningkat setiap tahunnya, statistic menunjukkan bahwa wanita paling banyak mengalami kanker payudara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan apa saja yang dialami oleh pasien yang menjalani pengobatan kanker baik itu kemoterapi atau radiasi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi fenomenologi dengan jumlah partisipan 4 dan triangulasi 2 partisipan. Analisa data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode colaizi. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan 3 tema besar yaitu Pengalaman pasien dalam menghadapi gejala dan usaha yang dilakukan untuk mengobati gejala yang dirasakan, Pengalaman pasien saat menjalani kemo dan radioterapi, Pengalaman pasien dan keluarga dalam mengahadapi proses kemo dan radioterapi. Kemoterapi dan radiasi memiliki efek samping baik secara fisik maupun psikologis sehingga dapat menurunkan kualitas hidup pasien sehingga pasien yang akan menghadapi pengobatan kanker baik itu kemoterapi dan radiasi harus mendapatkan pendampingan baik yaitu dengan pemberian informasi dan penampingan psikologis
