Hubungan Peran Keluarga dengan Kualitas Hidup Pasien Gagal Ginjal Kronis yang Menjalani Hemodialisis di RS Bhakti Kartini

ABSTRACT
Chronic kidney disease is a progressive and irreversible condition that often requires renal replacement therapy such as hemodialysis. Long-term dialysis treatment affects not only the patient’s physical condition but also psychological well-being, social functioning, and environmental aspects, which may ultimately reduce overall quality of life. In the context of chronic illness, family plays a crucial supportive role in assisting patients to adapt to health-related changes. This study aimed to examine the relationship between family support and quality of life among patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at RS Bhakti Kartini. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was applied. A total of 50 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Family support was assessed using a structured questionnaire covering emotional, informational, instrumental, and spiritual support, while quality of life was measured using the WHOQOL-BREF instrument. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents reported good family support (88%) and moderate quality of life (58%). Bivariate analysis showed a p-value of 0.014 (p ≤ 0.05), indicating a statistically significant relationship between family support and quality of life among hemodialysis patients. The study concludes that stronger family support is associated with better quality of life. These results highlight the importance of incorporating family-based nursing interventions to improve the overall well-being of patients undergoing hemodialysis.
