Pengaruh Edukasi Gula Tersembunyi terhadap Pengetahuan Pencegahan Peningkatan Gula Darah di Puskesmas Kuin Raya

ABSTRACT
Increased consumption of hidden sugar is a risk factor for elevated blood sugar levels, while limited public knowledge about hidden sugar sources may hinder diabetes prevention efforts.This study aimed to determine the effect of hidden sugar education on improving knowledge of blood sugar prevention in the Kuin Raya Community Health Center area. A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted on 42 respondents selected using total sampling. The intervention consisted of hidden sugar education delivered through lectures with PowerPoint media and leaflet distribution. Knowledge levels were measured before and after the intervention using a validated questionnaire and analyzed with the Wilcoxon test. The findings showed a significant increase in respondents’ knowledge scores after the intervention, with the Wilcoxon test indicating a meaningful difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.05) and an effect size of r = 0.80, reflecting a large effect. Hidden sugar education proved effective in enhancing respondents’ knowledge and has the potential to serve as a practical promotive and preventive strategy in primary health care facilities.

ABSTRAK
Peningkatan konsumsi gula tersembunyi merupakan salah satu faktor risiko terjadinya peningkatan kadar gula darah. Keterbatasan pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai sumber gula tersembunyi berpotensi menghambat upaya pencegahan diabetes melitus.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh edukasi gula tersembunyi terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan dalam pencegahan peningkatan gula darah di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kuin Raya.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-eksperimental dengan desain one group pretest-posttest pada 42 responden yang dipilih menggunakan teknik total sampling. Intervensi yang diberikan berupa edukasi mengenai gula tersembunyi melalui metode ceramah dengan media PowerPoint dan pembagian leaflet. Pengukuran tingkat pengetahuan dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah intervensi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor pengetahuan responden setelah diberikan edukasi gula tersembunyi. Uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan perbedaan yang bermakna antara skor pre-test dan post-test (p < 0,05), dengan nilai effect size sebesar r = 0,80 yang menunjukkan pengaruh besar. Edukasi gula tersembunyi terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan responden dan berpotensi menjadi strategi promotif dan preventif yang aplikatif di fasilitas pelayanan kesehatan tingkat pertama.
