ABSTRACT

Meuraxa District, Banda Aceh City, is a disaster-prone area (earthquakes, tsunamis, floods) and has a high prevalence of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). The results of a 2023 survey by the Banda Aceh City Health Office show that the incidence of TB in this district is 1.5 times higher than the national average (1). Disaster-ready health cadres, which have been established since 2022, play a strategic role, but their knowledge of specific TB prevention and control measures remains very low, particularly regarding non-pharmaceutical policies such as cough etiquette, mask use, and the importance of treatment adherence. This hinders TB control efforts amid disaster risks that can disrupt health services (2). Improving the capacity of disaster-ready health cadres in pulmonary TB control through intensive training and outreach will enable them to become effective educational agents in their communities, raise public awareness, and strengthen the resilience of the local health system (3). The methods used were lectures, question and answer sessions, simulations, and practical exercises. Target audience: 20 disaster preparedness health cadres in Gampong Alue Deah Teungoh, Meuraxa District, with a target of increasing the average knowledge score by at least 40% from the pre-test to the post-test, as well as forming a network of active cadres capable of disseminating TB information to at least 75% of households in their working areas. The training and socialization activities were carried out over 2 days on September 13 and 14, 2025. Evaluation was conducted using questionnaires before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the training. The results of community service in Alue Deah Teungoh Village, Meuraxa District, Banda Aceh City, showed the knowledge of disaster preparedness health cadres before and after the training. Previously, the average score was 5.7, increasing to 9.8. The difference in average scores between the pre- and post-tests was statistically significant, with a p-value < α (0.000 < 0.05). The involvement of partner teams from the Aceh Provincial Health Office and Syiah Kuala University provided technical materials and accompanied the training process, ensuring the accuracy of information and its relevance to the local context.
