ABSTRACT
Internet addiction among adolescents has become a serious global health issue, as it is associated with declining academic performance and an increased risk of mental health problems. Uncontrolled use of digital devices requires comprehensive educational interventions through collaboration across health-related disciplines. This community service activity aimed to increase adolescents’ knowledge and awareness of the risks of internet addiction through an Interprofessional Education (IPE) and Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) approach. The activity was conducted at SMKN 1 Sukawati and involved 53 students. The intervention employed interactive lectures based on IPE and IPC approaches combined with a peer support group strategy. Knowledge levels were measured using pre-test and post-test questionnaires, while the level of internet dependence was assessed using the Internet Addiction Test (IAT). Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, with the level of significance set at a p-value < 0.05. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in knowledge, with the mean score rising from 83.40 to 93.58. The proportion of students categorized as having a “good” level of knowledge increased from 77.4% to 94.3% after the intervention. Statistical analysis showed a p-value < 0.001, indicating a significant effect of health education on adolescents’ knowledge levels regarding the dangers of internet addiction. The IPE and IPC approaches through interactive education combined with peer support groups were effective in improving adolescents’ mental health literacy related to internet addiction. Schools are encouraged to conduct continuous monitoring of students’ digital behavior as a long-term preventive strategy.
