Penguatan Kesiapsiagaan Bencana Anak melalui Edukasi Mitigasi di Wilayah Berisiko Tinggi
Sari

ABSTRACT
Children are among the most vulnerable groups affected by disasters; therefore, they need adequate disaster preparedness knowledge and skills from an early age. School-based disaster mitigation education is an important strategy to improve children's capacity to respond appropriately during emergencies. This community service program aimed to improve disaster preparedness knowledge among elementary school students through disaster mitigation education in a high-risk disaster area. The program was conducted at SDN Ciasmara 01, Pamijahan District, Bogor Regency, involving 251 elementary school students. Educational interventions consisted of lectures, educational videos, interactive discussions, and role-play activities. Knowledge was evaluated using a 31-item questionnaire administered before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test. The mean knowledge score increased from 6.51 before the intervention to 6.79 after the educational program. Paired t-test analysis demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in students' knowledge (p=0.004). Students also showed active participation and enthusiasm throughout the learning activities. Disaster mitigation education effectively improved elementary school students' knowledge regarding disaster preparedness. Similar educational programs should be implemented regularly and integrated with disaster simulations and evacuation drills to strengthen disaster preparedness culture within school communities.
