Edukasi Pengolahan Jamu Herbal yang Tepat dan Aman untuk Meningkatkan Pengetahuan Ibu-Ibu PKK Somopuro Lor, Salatiga

ABSTRAK

 

Jamu herbal merupakan salah satu bentuk pengobatan tradisional yang masih banyak dimanfaatkan masyarakat untuk menjaga kesehatan. Namun, pengetahuan mengenai pengolahan jamu yang tepat dan benar masih perlu ditingkatkan. Hasil pengkajian pada 30 ibu PKK RT 2, Somopuro Lor, Salatiga, menunjukkan bahwa 25 responden (83,3%) belum pernah mendapatkan edukasi tentang pengolahan jamu herbal dan masih terdapat keterbatasan pengetahuan terkait proses pengolahan serta penyimpanan jamu. Meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu-ibu PKK di RT 2, Kota Salatiga mengenai pengolahan jamu herbal berbasis bahan dapur yang tepat dan benar. Service learning meliputi penyuluhan, demonstrasi pembuatan jamu herbal, dan diskusi interaktif. Kegiatan melibatkan 30 ibu-ibu PKK RT 2 Somopuro Lor, Salatiga. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur tingkat pengetahuan peserta, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Hasil uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara tingkat pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah edukasi (Z = -4,793; p = 0,000). Edukasi pengolahan jamu herbal berbasis bahan dapur efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu-ibu PKK RT 2 Somopuro Lor, Salatiga mengenai pengolahan jamu herbal yang tepat dan aman. Peningkatan pengetahuan ini diharapkan dapat mendukung penerapan pengolahan jamu yang benar di tingkat rumah tangga sehingga kualitas, keamanan, dan manfaat jamu herbal bagi kesehatan keluarga dapat terjaga.

ABSTRACT

 

Herbal medicine (jamu) has remained a traditional remedy widely used by communities to maintain health. However, knowledge of proper and safe processing of herbal medicine remains inadequate. An initial assessment of 30 PKK women in RT 2, Somopuro Lor, Salatiga, showed that 25 respondents (83.3%) had never received education on herbal medicine processing and still had limited knowledge regarding processing and storage procedures. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge of PKK women in RT 2, Salatiga City, regarding the proper and safe processing of herbal medicine made from household ingredients. A service-learning approach was employed through health education, herbal medicine preparation demonstrations, and interactive discussions. The activity involved 30 PKK women from RT 2, Somopuro Lor, Salatiga. Participants' knowledge was evaluated using pre-test and post-test assessments before and after the educational intervention. The data were analysed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a significant difference in participants' knowledge before and after the educational intervention (Z = -4.793; p = 0.000). Education on kitchen-based herbal medicine processing was effective in improving PKK women in RT 2 Somopuro Lor, Salatiga's knowledge of proper and safe herbal medicine processing. The increased knowledge was expected to support the implementation of proper herbal medicine processing practices at the household level, thereby maintaining the quality, safety, and benefits of herbal medicine for family health.
