Move for Brain & Heart: Edukasi, Skrining, dan Senam pada Lansia dalam Mencegah Hipertensi dan Dimensia Vaskular

ABSTRAK

 

Penyakit kardiovaskular merupakan penyebab kematian tertinggi di dunia dan berhubungan erat dengan hipertensiserta gangguan kognitif pada lansia. Kurangnya aktivitas fisik dan rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya deteksi dini menjadi faktor risiko meningkatnya penyakit kardiovaskular dan demensia vaskular. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan lansia mengenai hipertensi dan demensia vaskular, melakukan skrining kesehatan, serta melatih aktivitas fisik brain gym pada lansia di LLT Wira Wreda Kelurahan Wirogunan Yogyakarta. Metode kegiatan meliputi pemeriksaan kesehatan, edukasi kesehatan, dan demonstrasi senam brain gym. Peserta kegiatan berjumlah 81 lansia. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan lansia mengalamiberat badan overweight dan memiliki hipertensi stadium 1. Setelah aktivitas ini, terjadi peningkatan pengetahuanpeserta setelah edukasi dengan nilai posttest lebih tinggi dibandingkan pretest. Kegiatan ini mampu meningkatkan kesadaran lansia mengenai pentingnya aktivitas fisik, deteksi dini hipertensi, dan pemeliharaan fungsi kognitif.

ABSTRACT

 

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide and are closely related to hypertension and cognitive disorders in the elderly. The lack of physical activity and low public awareness of the importance of early detection are risk factors for the increase in cardiovascular diseases and vascular dementia. This community service activity aims to increase the elderly's knowledge about hypertension and vascular dementia, conduct health screenings, and train physical activities such as brain gym for the elderly at LLT Wira Wreda, Wirogunan Village, Yogyakarta. The methods of the activity include health examinations, health education, and brain gym exercisedemonstrations. The participants of the activity numbered 81 elderly individuals. The results of the activity showed that the elder adult was overweight and hypertension stage 1. There was an increase in participants' knowledgeafter the education, with posttest scores higher than pretest scores. This activity was able to raise the awareness of the elderly regarding the importance of physical activity, early detection of hypertension, and the maintenance of cognitive function.
