ABSTRACT

Hemodialysis patients frequently experience dry skin and decreased skin moisture, which may cause discomfort and affect their quality of life. Meanwhile, coffee grounds generated by coffee-farming communities have the potential to be utilized as a natural ingredient in skin-care products. This activity aimed to empower coffee-farming communities through the utilization of coffee grounds as a raw material for natural body soap and to develop a product with the potential to help maintain skin moisture in hemodialysis patients. The activity was conducted through education on the utilization of coffee-ground waste, training in processing coffee grounds into natural body soap, and assistance in the production and marketing processes. The implementation of education and training improved the community's knowledge and skills in producing soap from coffee-ground waste and transforming it into a value-added skin-care product. The utilization of coffee grounds as a raw material for natural body soap represents an innovative approach that integrates the economic empowerment of coffee-farming communities with sustainable waste utilization. This product also has the potential to serve as a natural skin-care alternative to help maintain skin moisture in hemodialysis patients.
