ABSTRACT

Sports injury epidemiology data show ankle injury as the second most common injury, with ankle sprain being the most common type of ankle injury (33 of 43 types). Based on research conducted in the United States, the Netherlands and Hong Kong, ankle sprains are the most common type of injury (33 – 73%). In the UK, 3 – 5% of all visits to the emergency department are ankle sprains, with an estimated incidence of 5,600 per day. Meta-analysis studies show that the sexes of women and children are the population with the highest risk of ankle sprains. In another study also said about 28% of student athletes suffered from repeated sprains or leg injuries. This community service aims to enable participants to understand the meaning, ways to prevent and early treatment of ankle sprains. Education is carried out through counseling that is acceptable and well received by participants. Counseling produces individual understanding of the causes, first aid, and injury prevention. Thus, individuals can avoid ankle sprains and can play an active role in providing early injury relief.
