class Author Guidelines

Guidelines for writing manuscripts in this journal generally refer to the basic guidelines of Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.). The followings are some useful information based on the Checklist for Manuscript Submission by the APA when preparing your manuscript.

  1. The manuscript must cover the topic of psychology within the scope of Public Mental Health, Fundamental Psychology, Social Relation, Psychometrics, Cognitive Psychology, Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Organizational Change and Development, Life Span and Development 
  2. The manuscript must contain novelty or advancement of knowledge, both in theoretical terms and/or pragmatic solutions to problems in Indonesia.
  3. Replication studies are permitted while still providing a strong rationale and justification/presenting elements of novelty (such as a novelty in participants, years, or places).
  4. Research may be conducted individually or in a group, and may also be conducted by non-academic researchers.
  5. Research is written by the authors must not contain plagiarism (maximum of 20% plagiarism)
  6. The author(s) is responsible for the content and the entire body of the texts (except the layout).
  7. The manuscript must exhibit systematic thinking and coherence of writings in all of its sections: the beginning (background) to conclusions. Every sentence is not a mere opinion or an assumption without logical foundations, rationales, reference to previous works, or other valid references.
  8. Manuscripts must never be published previously in other journals or proceedings, both nationally and internationally.
  9. Manuscripts originating from the thesis/dissertation must be amended accordingly to the guidelines of JPM writing.
  10. Authors must upload Title Page in a seperate document from the main manuscript. Title Page must be upload on the supplementary file section in the submission process. The template for the title page can be accessed in JPM website. Authors’ name, email, and affiliation must be deleted from the main manuscript. Only the Title Page is allowed to include authors’ name, email, and affiliation.
  11. Acknowledgement and conflict of interest is written in the Title Page which is also uploaded suring manuscript submission.
  12. Manuscript is written in MS Word 2007 format with manuscript length of 4000-6000 words, including abstract, bibliography, figures and tables. The abstract is written with a maximum of 250 words (both Indonesian/ English).
  13. All the manuscripts are written in Indonesian or English. Abstract must be written in two languages. 
  14. The title of the manuscript is concise and straightforwad (no more than 18 words), and interesting (unlike the formal thesis title “the relationship between”, etc). The title implies the discipline of psychology studies and the research problem presented.
  15. Citation and bibliography in the manuscript must be made using reference manager application such as Mendeley or Endnote
  16. The manuscript evaluation process uses a blind peer review system. Each manuscript that has passed and deserved to be published will receive notification letter via email.

message Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is one-half spaced on A4-paper size; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
