Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of insecure attachment on PSR with TV series characters in young adults. The study uses a correlational quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. There were 170 participants aged 18–25 years who were currently or had previously been in romantic relationships, obtained through purposive sampling. The instruments used were the Experiences in Close Relationship-Revised (ECR-R) to measure insecure attachment and the Parasocial Relationship Scale (PRS) to measure PSR. The results showed that insecure attachment had a significant effect on PSR, which means that approximately 25.9% of PSR variation was explained by insecure attachment. The higher the level of insecure attachment, the greater the tendency for individuals to form PSR with media characters. In addition, there was no significant difference in PSR levels between individuals who had romantic relationships and those who did not. Overall, the findings enrich the understanding of parasocial relationships by highlighting the role of insecure attachment in the relational dynamics of young adults.
