HUBUNGAN ANTARA LONELINESS DENGAN SMARTPHONE ADDICTION PADA MAHASISWA

Abstrak

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif korelasional. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui hubungan loneliness dengan smartphone addiction pada mahasiswa aktif di kota Salatiga. Partisipan pada penelitian ini adalah 344 mahasiswa aktif di kota Salatiga yang menggunakan smartphone lebih dari 3 jam setiap hari. Peneliti menggunakan teknik probability sampling dalam menentukan sampel terpilih dari keseluruhan populasi. Alat ukur yang dipakai adalah loneliness versi 3 (UCLA LS) (α = .897) dan smartphone addiction scale (SAS) (α = .909) yang telah diadaptasi kedalam bahasa Indonesia. Data penelitian di uji dengan menggunakan uji korelasi product moment dari Karl Pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara loneliness dengan smartphone addiction, yang berarti semakin tinggi loneliness maka semakin tinggi smartphone addiction, begitu pun sebaliknya. Implikasi hasil penelitian ini yaitu penelitian ini dapat membantu menjelaskan bahwa loneliness dapat meningkatkan penggunaan smartphone bagi individu khususnya mahasiswa yang dapat mengakibatkan smartphone addiction.

Abstract

This research is a correlational quantitative research. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship loneliness with smartphone addiction active students in the city of Salatiga. Participants in this study were 344 active students in the city of Salatiga who used smartphone more than 3 hours every day. Researchers use techniques probability sampling in determining the selected sample of the entire population. The measuring instrument used is loneliness version 3 (UCLA LS) (α = .897) and smartphone addiction scale (SAS) (α = .909) which has been adapted into Indonesian. The research data was tested using a correlation test product moment from Karl Pearson. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between loneliness with smartphone addiction, which means higher loneliness then the higher smartphone addiction, vice versa. The implication of the results of this study is that this research can help explain that loneliness can increase consumption smartphone for individuals, especially students that can result smartphone addiction.
